Press Release - December 11, 2002
OMHA INKS 14-YEAR-OLD GOALTENDER
TO DESIGN WEB SITE
The Ontario Minor Hockey Association is pleased to announce that they have
signed a web development contract with Cyberteks Design to redesign
the OMHA web site. Cyberteks Design, a Division of Cyberteks Systems
Corporation, headquartered in London, Ontario, with sales offices
in New York, Washington, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Michigan
provides E-Commerce, Web Design, Web Hosting and Marketing services.
The company's President, CEO & Chief Creative Director is internationally
recognized and award-winning designer, 14-year-old Keith Peiris
of London, Ontario.
When
asked why he wanted to work on the OMHA web site Keith said "I
love to design hockey related websites. Hockey is one of my main
passions. I wanted to design a very high-tech user friendly, interactive
website that will attract all minor hockey players, parents, officials,
coaches, referees and corporate people. The OMHA is a very high
profile organization in North America. This is great for me personally,
my company and most importantly to other young entrepreneurs."
The OMHA web site was introduced in its current format in December
1999 and it is now ready for a fresh look, improved site navigation,
updated content and some new features like interactive games.

Dale Hunter (OMHA Grad, Head Coach & Owner of the
London Knights), Keith Peiris (Cyberteks Design), Sue Michalski
(OMHA Regional Executive Member), Dick Bennett (OMHA Vice-President,
Western District)
"Our decision to select Cyberteks Design was based on the quality
of their service offering and we were extremely impressed with
their comprehensive portfolio of websites -- not to mention the
talents of 14-year-old Keith Peiris and his fresh approach" said
Richard Ropchan, Executive Director of the Ontario Minor Hockey
Association. "Keith is not only the youngest, but also one of
the best web designers we have seen. We are very confident that
he will design a state-of-the-art website that reflects the OMHA's
forwarding-thinking philosophy," said Ropchan.
Keith Peiris designed his first web site at the age of 10 and
has won several web design awards and recognitions from top professionals
in the industry for his work. Keith started playing hockey when
he was 8 years old and currently tends goal for the South East
London Major Bantams. Keith is on the ice 8 to 10 hours each week
as he also takes part in practices with the Lucan Irish Jr. D
team, Alvinston Flyers Jr. C team, Strathroy Rockets Jr. B team
as well the London Knights Major Junior A team, one of his company's
many clients.
Keith is one very busy 14-year-old, designing web sites for large
customers from all over North America (including Interep, the
largest Radio Advertising Agency in the United States; KEWL Threads,
a Hockey Apparel company founded by Shayne Corson & Darcy Tucker;
Rogers Television; London Knights Hockey Club; University of Western
Ontario; Radio 20:20 of New York; and now the OMHA) and an active
hockey schedule, Keith has managed to maintain a 94% average in
Grade 9 at Regina Mundi Catholic School in London.
When asked how he manages to juggle so many activities so well,
Keith said "I work hard and manage my time very well. Furthermore,
I love all three things I do."
Keith's goals and aspirations include making his way through
the junior hockey ranks right up through to the NHL, while at
the same time establishing Cyberteks Design as a world leader
in New Media Development.
In February 2001 Keith was a member of the Team Canada Trade
Mission and he had the opportunity to meet the Prime Ministers
of Canada and China. He was also a VIP guest at the home opener
of the London Knights this year at the brand new John Labatt Centre
along with Darryl Sittler, the Mayor of London Anne Marie DeCicco
and the Commissioner of OHL David Branch.

About OMHA - The Ontario Minor Hockey Association, now
the “Largest Minor Hockey Organization in the World” is the result
of many years of hard work by men and women sincerely interested
in the welfare of the youth of Ontario, and in the game of Hockey,
Canada’s National Winter Sport. The OMHA, as it exists today,
is the result of the amalgamation of two such groups of sports
enthusiasts. While the Ontario Juvenile Hockey Association formed
in 1935, was struggling through its first years of existence,
another similar organization, known as the Ontario Midget and
Bantam Hockey Association was operating for the benefit of youth
in the province. Amalgamation of the two bodies resulted in the
formation of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association in 1940.
