15-YEAR-OLD PRESIDENT &
CEO OF CYBERTEKS DESIGN, RE-APPOINTED TO THE INDUSTRY CANADA's
SCHOOLNET ADVISORY BOARD
London, Ontario, Canada: May 21, 2003 - Cyberteks Design, A Division
of Cyberteks Systems Corporation announced today that its President
& CEO, 15-year-old Keith Peiris, an internationally recognized
and award winning web designer was re-appointed to the Industry
Canada's Schoolnet Advisory Board. He has been on the Advisory
Board since May, 2001. Twenty-two young people from across the
country are part of the SchoolNet Youth Advisory Board. Membership
comprises youth's ages 10 to 18, including representatives self-identified
as aboriginal, visible minority and having a disability. There
is both rural and urban representation with participation from
each province and one territory. Keith Peiris is the only Londoner
appointed to the Board. Keith is a grade 9 student at Regina Mundi
Catholic College in London, Ontario
About Schoolnet Advisory Board
What?
The Government of Canada takes seriously the need for youth participation
in areas of public policy, which affects Canada's young population.
Since the Canadian Government ratified the United Nation's Convention
on the Rights of the Child in 1991, public programs relevant to
young people have been gradually elevating the importance placed
on youth participation - as can be seen with the marked increase
of youth advisory, youth surveying and youth targeted program
development.
And so, we established the SchoolNet Youth Advisory Board (SYAB)
in March 2001 to advise Canada's SchoolNet on its youth initiatives
and inform the Canadian government about how youth are using ICT.
The SYAB researches and discusses such topics as:
§ The future of information and communication technologies
(ICT);
§ Skills needed to succeed in the new knowledge society;
§ Tools required to best develop these skills;
§ Accessibility to technology and online content;
§ Content preferences; and
§ Youth engagement through the use of ICT.
How?
The SchoolNet Youth Advisory Board comprises innovative youth,
ages 10 to 18, from across Canada. These young people discuss
the future of ICT, the effects technology has on learning and
what they feel is needed to ensure equal access to technology
for all. There is a SYAB conference this week, running from May
22nd-25th in Ottawa, Ontario.

Keith Peiris has won several web design awards and recognitions from
top professionals in the industry, has attracted very large customers
from all over North America. Keith was also featured on the cover page
of National Post Business Magazine of April 2000 issue, and several other
publications around the world. Branham300 published in the National Post
Magazine of March, 2001 recognized Cyberteks Design among this year's
"Top 50 Web Design companies in Canada" for two years in a row
and again Cyberteks Design was listed among the Best 100 IT Companies
in Canada in 2002. Keith was also featured on the cover page of National
Post Business Magazine of April 2000 issue and several other publications
around the world. Furthermore, Cyberteks Design website is featured on
the Macromedia Flash Showcase since November 1999 to date. More information
